Concerned Citizens Defending their Communities, or Vigilantes?

A community of interest gathers at Stonehenge,...

My culture built this.

It seems to me that there is a distinction to be made between members of communities defending their communities, and Vigilantes.

I can only think of this in terms of how I would go about defending my home and my community. For one thing I would approach the task with equal if not more discipline than I would any professional job of work. I would be thinking in terms of strategic objectives, tactics and maintaining moral authority.

I would not be wandering around almost saying to the rioters, ‘come on if you think your hard enough.’ which would be the vigilante approach.

I don’t have much time for vigilantes, vigilante groups are too often interested in enhancing the power of their group, for the sake of the power of their group.

Concerned citizens defending their homes, their families, and their friends are concerned with just that, and part of defending these things is working to preserve social order and authority within society.

Vigilantes are out to make a point.

Concerned Citizens defending their homes, deter troublemakers, and where given no other alternative, make citizens arrests, contact the appropriate authorities and await for them to arrive.

Vigilante groups are really little better than Lynch Mobs.

Concerned citizens defending their homes, know when the time for concern is over, they recognise when order is restored and return to the homes they have defended with discipline courage and dignity.

The Vigilante doesn’t know when to stop.

Because a vigilante is just another rioter.

About Transremaxculver

An entirely fictitious username I created for posting on 'alt.religion.scientology', Scientology is something of which I am highly critical. For those of you who don't know, the Church of Scientology have a habit of making life very uncomfortable for even the most legitimate of critics, which is why this username is completely anonymous. Anyway I have become quite fond of this username, and although it has to some extent outgrown it's original purpose, I think a blog is perhaps the right place for me/it to continue to grow and develop.
